Incredible Years

jasmineThe Incredible Years: BASIC Parent Training Program – Early Childhood is a research-based program that is effective in reducing children's aggression and behavior problems and increasing social competence at home and at school. It is designed to promote positive parenting strategies and to assist parents in managing children’s behavior. This is accomplished through helping parents learn positive reinforcement, limit setting, non-physical discipline alternatives and problem solving strategies.

Program Coordinator

This activity involves monitoring programs to ensure program progress toward Performance Based Incentive System (PBIS) standards and to document adherence to the service contracts and the collection/submittal of Quarterly Reports and Cash and In-kind Reports. The Program Coordinator ensures adherence to bidding practices, contract development/ maintenance/ compliance, collects and enters data into the Quarterly Reporting System and provides training and ongoing technical assistance to in-house program contacts and Direct Service Providers on data collection and reporting techniques.

Community Outreach and Education

The Community Outreach and Education Activity increases awareness within Alamance County regarding Smart Start funded services.  It will also serve to build and strengthen relationships with community organizations serving children birth to age five and their families.

Partners in Literacy

The Partners in Literacy Activity provides a variety of pre-literacy programs for the children and families of Alamance County.  These programs include the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, Reach Out and Read, Motheread, and Motheread B.A.B.Y.

More at Four

The More at Four Pre-Kindergarten Program is a state funded program that targets at risk four year olds who may not be ready to enter Kindergarten due to certain risk factors. Risk factors include low income, health related conditions, developmental delays, and English as a second language. The program gives first priority to children who meet the eligibility criteria and have never been served in a pre-kindergarten or licensed childcare setting. More at Four services are provided at no cost to families and can be received in a variety of locations, including the school system, private child care centers, and Head Start.
To apply for this program your child must be four years old on or before August 31, 2010, to meet eligibility requirements.  If you are interested in an application, please call Alamance Partnership for Children at 336.513.0063.

El Programa “More at Four Pre-Kindergarden” es un programa financiado por el estado el cual tiene metas para niños de cuatro años de edad quienes podrían no estar listos para entrar al kindergarden debido a ciertos factores de riesgos. Estos factores de riesgos incluyen bajos recursos económicos, condiciones relacionadas con la salud, problemas de desarrollo, e Ingles como segundo idioma. El programa le da prioridad a los niños que cumplen con el criterio de elegibilidad y que nunca han asistido a una facilidad de pre-kindergarten o una guardería licensiada para el programa de niños. Los servicios de “More at Four” se proveen a las familias sin costo alguno y pueden ser obtenidos en varias localidades, tales como escuelas públicas, cuidado privado de niños, y Head Start.

Child Care Connections

APC provides Child Care Resource and Referral services which include training for child care providers, parents, and the community; a quarterly newsletter; a resource library; and parent referrals. In addition, this activity provides technical assistance, individualized training and peer-mentoring to any facility willing to contract with the Partnership to improve their star-rated licensure based on the Environment Rating Scales (ERS). A primary goal of the technical assistance is to encourage and assist providers with making necessary improvements and applying for enhanced licensure.

Child Care Health Consultant

The Child Care Health Consultant provides health education services for child care staff and children in licensed child care facilities in Alamance County. These services will include on-site technical assistance to child care facilities to assist them in improving their compliance in the areas of health, safety, and sanitation.

Professional Development Support

Smart Start funds will purchase Early Childhood Education (ECE) textbooks which will be available for loan to child care providers who work in a licensed child care facility in Alamance County and are enrolled in an accredited ECE program of study.  There are summer classes available.
